Aqaba is divided into three main
areas:
-The North Beach Area, where
most of the hotels are located.
-The Middle Beach Area.
-The South Beach Area.
There
are two main public beach areas. Aqaba Marine Park is
one and it's located at the south beach in the Aqaba
Marine Park, a 12 km drive from the town center. This
beach provid es visitors with umbrellas, seating, toilets
and showers. Al-Hafayer is the other public beach in the
middle beach section in the Al-Hafayer area. This area
is unique as many locals actually grow and cultivate
vegetables on and near the beach. There are several
traditional cafes on the waterfront where one can enjoy
a meal or a hubbly bubbly. The beach is open for
swimming, although there are no lifeguards on duty.
As for private beaches, they
include hotels, clubs and resorts. These usually charge
a fee upon entry, although some non beachfront hotels
have made deals with beachfront hotels on the beach for
discounted entry fees.
Moreover, all five star hotels, as
well as one four star hotel, enjoy direct access to the
beach. These hotels are fully equipped with swimming
pools, beach beds, showers, toilets, bars and
restaurants as well as various kinds of water
activities.
For those who prefer a mellower
beach experience, the Royal Diving Center, located 18km
from the city center, enjoys direct access to the beach
along with freshwater pools, sundecks, a bar and a
restaurant. You can also stay at their newly constructed
Coral Bay Hotel. |
