Is located in the two story Beit Rusan the largest house
in the village, formerly the home of the ottoman
representative at Umm Qais who was from a rich merchant
family. Exhibits are displayed on the ground floor which
is composed of two exhibition halls. In the first hall,
various ceramics dating from the Hellenistic up to the
Islamic periods are on display, along with finds from
the tombs at Umm Qais.
The second hall is dedicated to statuary, mostly from
the Roman period. Into the large courtyard, basalt
sarcophagi, column capitals and bases, two basalt gates,
mosaics and the famous seated Tyche were moved from the
site.
Rooms on the upper floor are used for sorting and
cataloguing finds from recent excavations.
A white marble statue of Tyche, city goddess of Gadara,
seated on a lion throne and holding a cornucopia filled
with fruits in her left hand, found headless in the west
theatre is placed at the entrance to the museum. Just to
the Left is a small shop selling postcards, books and
souvenirs.
