Built in 1951 on the citadel Hill
in Amman, it houses ancient artifacts ranging from daily
life items ( pottery, glass, flint and metal tools) to
monumental materials (inscriptions, and statuaries) as
well as jewelry inscriptions statuary and coin
collections, dating from the Paleolithic period up to
the Mamluk period and arranged in a chronological order.
Most interesting items are: the Dead Sea C opper Scrolls
written in Aramaic characters., the Neolithic plaster
statues of Ain Ghazal and the anthropomorphic pottery
coffins, which give an insight into ancient burial
practices. Location: Amman, Citadel Hill
Opening hours: 8AM - 7PM in the summer, 8AM - 4 PM in
the winter, 8AM - 3:00PM in Ramadan, 10AM - 4PM Fridays
& official holidays
