Petra
Archaeological Museum
A small museum opened in 1963 and is located
inside a Nabatean cave on al Habees hill;
the museum has one main hall and two side
rooms.
The collection represent finds from
excavations in the Petra region, dating from
the Edomite, Nabataean, Roman and Byzantine
periods, with special emphasis on
architectural decorative elements and stone
sculpture.

Opening hours: 8AM - 7PM in the summer, 8AM
- 4 PM in the winter, 8AM - 3:00PM in
Ramadan, 10AM - 4PM Fridays & official
holidays
Closing days: first day of Eid El-Fiseh &
Eid Al-Adha
Entrance fees: Included in the entry fees
for the site.
Residents: 1JD, Tourist: 21JD for one day,
26JD for two days and 31JD for three days
The Petra Nabataean Museum
Opened in 1993, located next to the Forum
Basin Restaurant. The museum is divided into
three main exhibitions halls:
The first hall introduces the history of
Petra and the Nabateans, and the geology of
the Petra region, as well as special
examples representing Neolithic food
processing, Edomite pottery, Nabataean
sculpture, and hydraulic engineering.
The second hall is dedicated to specific
excavations taken place in the Petra region
and surrounding areas. Such as the Neolithic
village at Beida, the Nabataean and Late
Roman houses on az-Zanter, the Petra church
Project. As well as special exhibit
representing earthquakes, Nabataean trade
and Petra in the medieval period.
The third hall displays various artifacts,
such as jewellery, lamps, bronze statuettes,
terracotta figurines, pottery, and coins,
with special emphasis on the manufacturing
processes.
